Confucius Classroom Opening

The opening ceremony of the Confucius Classroom at Clip will take place on October 22nd, at 5 pm, at CLIP.

In 2008, CLIP and the Confucius Institute established a protocol for cooperation to improve the quality of teaching of Mandarin in school. Over the years, this cooperation has enabled some students to participate in Chinese summer camps and in international Chinese language competitions, whilst developing the preparation for official language proficiency tests and taking part in different cultural activities, amongst other initiatives.

The opening of the Confucius Classroom at CLIP will allow to develop the offer related to the teaching of Mandarin, as well as to promote the diffusion of Chinese culture. While developing the knowledge of the Chinese language and culture amongst CLIP’s students, the Confucius Classroom will be able to cooperate with all the other schools in Porto.  The headquarters of Confucius Institute will support this office, which will operate at CLIP, by sending teaching materials as well as providing financial support for the promotion of Chinese language and culture.

During that week there will be an exhibition celebrating the 70th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, in the school's entrance hall.

CLIP and the Confucius Institute of the University of Minho have invited the ambassador of the People's Republic of China, the mayor of Porto, the rector of the University of Minho amongst other guests to be present at this opening ceremony. After this ceremony, there will be a visit to the exhibition, followed by a dinner.
