General Emergency Instructions
- Fire
- Stay calm. Do not shout or run.
- Press the nearest alarm button.
- Do not attempt to extinguish the fire, unless you have received the appropriate training.
- Inform the Emergency Officers (or after-school security guards) and move to a safe area.
- Cooperate with the orders of CLIP staff.
- If your clothes catch fire do not run. Drop to the ground and roll over to smother the flames.
- If there is heavy smoke protect your mouth, nose and eyes with your clothes and move as close to the ground as possible.
- Natural Disasters
Earthquakes
- If you are inside, stay inside.
- Get down, protect yourself.
- Move away from furniture, windows or objects that can fall.
- Stay in your shelter until the shaking stops or an imminent danger forces you to move.
- If you are outside, stay outside.
- Move away from buildings, trees, electricity posts and cables and move towards the meeting point.
- Do not re-enter the building.
Storms, Tornadoes or Hurricanes
- Stay or go inside the building.
- Close doors and windows and stay away from them.
- (Gather the necessary supplies to be distributed should it be needed)
- Lockdown
- Report it to a Director or Safety Officer discreetly and without risk.
- Barricade yourself in the nearest place by locking the door alongside other people in the area.
- Turn off the lights.
- Hide in the corner furthest from the door.
- Switch off the sounds and lights of electronic equipment.
- Unless smoke or flames require you to evacuate, remain calm and in your hiding place, even if the fire alarm sounds.
- In the event of a terrorist attack, the safety principle: Run>Hide>Warn should be followed unless otherwise indicated by duly identified police authorities, school directors, or staff members designated by the SLT.
- First Aid
- If you need assistance, inform a Staff member or Nurse.
- If you cannot walk, shout for help.
- Call the Nurse as quickly as possible if you witness an accident.
- Do not attempt to provide assistance if you do not have specific training.
- Energy Failure
- Do not panic, keep calm and stay where you are.
- If you are alone and lost, shout for help.
- If you hear the fire alarm, you should follow the evacuation procedures.
- Evacuation Rules
- Upon hearing the fire alarm, stop what you’re doing immediately.
- Follow the emergency exit signs, opting for the shortest possible safe route (consult the nearest Emergency Plans) in case of doubts.
- Do not hide, do not try to take items with you, nor go back for something.
- Follow the guidance of CLIP Staff.
- If something prevents you from escaping, you should announce your presence in some way (shouting for help, using a flashlight, etc.).
- Teachers with students in their care should escort them in an orderly and swift manner from their current
- Bomb Threat
- All bomb threats are serious until proven otherwise.
- Remain calm and report it with full details to the Safety Department.
- Once the threat is confirmed, the fire alarm will be activated to start the school evacuation.
It is important to act quickly, without touching anything.
