Reading Week at CLIP 2014

10 April

When Lower School students were told to bring their favourite books and mugs from home they immediately knew it was time to celebrate Reading Week this year.  In fact, during the week of March 17th we had not only our traditional Book Tea Parties in the Lower School Library but also other exciting literary activities going around the school.

The Faunas theatre company presented two very special plays “Heróis Pequeninos” and “Dividir para Reinar” for KS1 and KS2 respectively and both emphasised the great importance of protecting and respecting the environment by recycling.

Once more parents and older students responded to the school’s appeal and came to various classes to read a story of their choice. Also, Lower School children eagerly took part in the prize draw by answering a question related to a book read in class.  Book prizes were given to the lucky ones in every year group.

Thanks to all parents who answered the survey. We found out their favourite childhood books, which are now in display in the Lower School entrance. It is nice to see that some of our children’s preferred stories are still the same as their parents’.

By hearing stories read and told and sharing their much loved books, this Reading Week gave children many opportunities to discover new worlds through literature and to develop a passion for reading that we hope will last.
