2014 Reading Week

27 March

CLIP celebrated the Reading Week from the 17th to the 21st of March. Several activities were organised for the students, teachers and parents. The aim of the week was to encourage students to read for pleasure as regularly as possible, as well as to make them aware of the importance of reading and its benefits.

Students had the opportunity to share ideas and experiences with fantastic Portuguese authors and guests such as: Walter Hugo Mãe, Francisco José Viegas, Ana Soares, Bárbara Gong, Mr. Monaghan, Professor Doutor Levi Guerra and Professor Doutor Hugo Monteiro.

Middle school students were involved in a Reading Fair which was designed to encourage students to read and explore literature. Hard work, creativity and fun were the highlights of this competition.

Throughout the week there was a Bertrand book fair and a collection of second hand books for AJudaris, an institution that supports children in need. This was a very successful event that was supported by the whole school.

Every morning, the US MRC sent their team of ASL (assistant senior librarians)to all classes to teach students how to view and manage eBooks and other digital publications.

Students’ work in all languages can still be appreciated along corridors and display boards.

A Reading Flash Mob wrapped up this enjoyable week that was only possible with the help and enthusiasm of the whole community.
